My morning smoothie recipe.. and its GREEN!

First, I don’t do cleanses. Not because I don’t think they are beneficial, but because I need to fuel myself with food (natural) to be able to function in my job.

I love my job!! How many people can say they really really love their job?  I am a fitness professional for the last 27 years.

I teach 21 classes a week. That’s a lot of energy needed for a woman at my age (51) and proud of it!!  That’s not including the amount of hours that goes into preparing for each week and the transportation to and from. As fitness pro’s we often eat on the run or we eat more frequently in hopes that it’s more sustainable to carry us through our day of classes.

I eat to fuel me.  I plan every meal, my snacks too.

I am obsessed with smoothies/shakes/juicing.

As a fitness pro a lot of my meals need to be nutrient rich, sustainable and fast.

I teach every morning 6 days week so I’d better be energetic. Even if I cue a class and not execute because I might have evening classes, I must be 100% energetic and relay that energy to my clients.

So what’s my secret…My morning yummy green smoothie!

1 CUP of unsweetened coconut milk or unsweetened almond milk***

1/2 frozen banana**

1tps raw chia seeds

1/4 raw flax seeds

Lots of greens (mostly kale and spinach)**

Most recently adding 1 beet

1 scoop of whey protein

***Feel free to omit the milk and replace with coconut water

**Substitute any fruit or green you like

Some mornings I will have the following:

Fage 0% Greek yogurt

1/4 all- bran

berries**

drizzle of raw honey

chia seeds

These are my two favorite ways to start my day.

Here is another smoothie that I love especially on nights when I teach till 8:30pm

Chocolate whey protein powder

1 tbsp. raw almond butter or PB2

1/2 frozen banana

raw chia seeds

1/2 cup unsweetened coconut milk

OMG its like an almond joy bar!
