Sunflowers say summer

It’s no secret, I am obsessed with Sunflowers!

I got married holding sunflowers in a vineyard, my dining room has a huge canvas picture of a sunflower that I held on my wedding day.  My website is covered with sunflower pictures. You could say, I am obsessed with these flowers.

Want to know why?

A sunflower stands out  amongst all flowers. It stands tall, confident and noble. It is bright and beautiful. It is a vibrant flower. It radiates happiness.

The sunflower turns towards the sun as they are attracted to bright light. There are many different varieties of sunflowers all of equal beauty. Here are just a few that are most popular, the towering Mammoth, the autumn beauty burst with orange, mahogany  or bronze colors, and the sunbeam, usually found in bouquets.

There is so much about the sunflower that intrigues me.  Not only are they attractive to people, they are attractive to bees and birds as well. They are flowers to enjoy in the summer but they are harvested for seed in the fall.  The center of their heads are filled with seeds, which birds can enjoy long after the flower has died. We can enjoy seeds, dried as a snack, or some can be used for cooking oil or margarine.

Once a sunflower has fully bloomed it continues to have purpose even after it dies.

Don’t you just love that the sunflower lives on even after the beauty fades.  Don’t you find it fascinating?

I wanted to write about the sunflower to inspire you to look at sunflowers as a metaphor for your life. Inside our heads are millions of seeds that we can leave behind someday. Maybe it’s a seed that you plant in someone else’s head. Maybe your belief in them is that seed that propels them forward. Maybe your seeds will be in the form of a book. The seeds in your head need to be nurtured. When you have ideas for a new venture or business and you make it happen, those seeds have taken root and long after your gone, you will be remembered for the special seeds in your head.

My intention and wish for you, is that you remember you are so much more than your physical body.

Go out there and shine brightly!

In health & happiness xo
