Happy Love Month.
Self care, love and all those things.
When we hear the phrase “my tribe” we often think about our friends or family. Anyone that you consider your support system, or confidant.
In midlife especially, we know the value of true friends and important family members. We know our core tribe. Midlife also brings with it some physical and phycological changes. That doesn’t mean doom and gloom, it just means there are issues that require some new attention.
Let’s imagine a car, a car that is more than 10 years old . Which in car land, that old 🙂 The car has some serious wear and tear from all the wonderful years of driving you around. In other words it has accumulated mileage. Now let’s look at our bodies the same way. We are NOT old but we have accumulated mileage in our body, ex; joints and muscles. We’ve also accumulated some emotional or physiological baggage due to the fact that we are human and live on this planet.
We take a car to the mechanic for a tune up. We take the car to a tire place, for new tires or repairs. We take the car to get inspected, to see if it is safe enough to continue to drive.
Interesting right? Who inspects us?
Who do you see when you need an inspection?
Wanna know a secret, did you know that Physio’s aka Physical Therapist can do assessments on your body? For no reason other than to access your movement patterns and see how optimally you’re moving. They look for patterns of movements and can assess limitations, restrictions and deviations in your body.
When was the last time you had an inspection? As a corrective exercise specialist, for boomers and seniors, I have training in the aging body. I also can work with some minor restrictions and limitations as I am trained to look for them.
When the inspection is over, you take your car if needed to a body shop to service.
Who is your Body Shop?
Acupuncturist? Did you know that acupuncture can treat a myriad of issues. Hot flashes, night sweats, and even common aches and pains. Working with a Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, pilates instructor, or anyone who has qualifications to treat your body. Unfortunately most yoga instructors do NOT have the full qualifications to treat the body. They are not trained to look at movement patterns, limitations and restrictions in their clients. So, choose wisely.
What about phycological assessment? Your mental health.
You can work with a licensed therapist or social worker for any mental health issues. I would find one who specializes in midlife health and wellness. In midlife you will go through transitions and many emotional turns and events. It is imperative to find someone you can have in your corner. Did you know working with a Certified Life Coach you can get the same results. A life coach cannot coach and prescribe medication. Your mental health needs care too. As a PPC, personal and professional certified life coach, with additional trainings geared to the midlife woman, I am trained to work with transitions at midlife.
So my question to you, WHO IS YOUR TRIBE?
Mine is as follows
1)Acupuncturist
2)Physical Therapist
3) Business Coach
4) Massage Therapist
5)Reiki and Chrystal healer
6) Personal Life Coach
7) Registered Dietician
Now is the time to hire your tribe. A tribe to keep you moving and feeling your best as you age.

I suggest adding a faith community in your tribe.
Having faith encourages an optimistic outlook, which in turn helps overall health.
Yes, I truly agree. Without faith we have nothing. Thank you for this reminder 🙂
