These will ensure you stay young. 1Strength training 2)Cardio 3)Flexibility and Mobility 4)Cognitive Brain training 5)Balance Training 6)Mindset work #1. Women know they must lift weights to build strong bones, but what if you have osteoporosis in your spine? Would I have you load your spine with heavy weights, NO! There are many different ways to build bones without loading the spine. One of the ways is on the Pilates Reformer, utilizing the jump board. You can also try a mini trampoline, there is a great one in my shop, click here. https://skyblue-fish-650057.hostingersite.com/shop/ There are others ways that you can build bones such as using your own body weight. Strength training can be tricky in midlife, so listen to your body and seek out a professional. #2 Cardio is to strengthen your heart muscle. Getting your heart rate to work in an aerobic state is how you strengthen the heart. Adding bits of anaerobic intervals (HIIT Training) is optimal for burning fat while strengthning your heart. Unfortunatly, walking isn’t cardio. It’s great to move to get your steps in, but don’t forget true cardio. #3 Flexibility and Mobility to remain injury free. When your muscles are tight, you are at a risk for injury when you move. Practice stretches and deep mobility work to keep you moving well now and in your future. Yoga, pilates, recovery are all formats that provide flexibility and mobility. #4 Brain Heath. Alzheimer’s is the new diabetes they say. I say it’s the same just different symptoms. You need to grow new brain cells. You can, its called Nuerogenisis. It is stated, by a Harvard study, that movement along with challenging your brain is how you begin to grow new brain cells. No longer are the days of doing a crossword puzzles. We now know the importance of movement in conjunction with the mind games. #5 Balance Training Nearly one out of four people over 65+ will have a fall. Training balance and Gait are very important. Training the feet is where everything starts. #6 Mindset work. Your mind is a muscle. You need to train it the same way. Build the muscle of a vibrant life where you are thriving in midlife. A recent study from the Baltimore Longitudinal study on aging, states that a positive mindset attributes to better aging.
