I LOVE MY WINE….
We were married in the vineyards, so as you can imagine, we love our wine. My hubby and I drink wine at dinner at least 3x a week, that’s not counting the weekends 🙂
Even if it’s only one glass, we love our wine. We frequent the L.I. vineyards at least once every few months. We love learning about the grapes, how it’s barreled (steel or oak) and how to pair the wines.
I usually drink white, but at times I enjoy a good Cabernet, especially as the fall crisp air approaches here on the east coast. I prefer unoaked whites vs. buttery oak flavor. You can see I love my vino. Heck, I am Italian! 🙂
While recently vacationing in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, I decided to give up wine for 21 days. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a drinking problem, I just decided to start right then and there.
OK, I’ll admit it, I had a severe allergy attack and it brought on a migraine. That helped me want to stay away from the wine, but it wasn’t my deciding factor. I felt better right away, so I normally would have just continued enjoying my wine while taking my allergy meds. Let’s face it, I was on vacation, a time to kick back and relax while enjoying my wine 🙂
I definitely kicked back, I finished two great books, and we certainly had a blast, all without wine.
What prompted me to challenge myself to 21days of no wine was a book I was reading titled “The Power of Habit: why we do what we do in Life and Business”
I have always been fascinated with what makes some people stick to something and others give up.
Being in fitness, I see this all the time. As a coach, I always encourage my clients to control their inner voice. I believe we can, and should, control our mind and that requires some muscle.
It comes down to integrity in your word or promise to yourself @mariasmountain
So, I decided to challenge myself for 21days of no wine. Flexing my mind muscle a bit.
Some of my clients want to know what changes have I seen in my body or in my life without my wine
Being that today is day 21, I wanted to share my findings with you.
1) I didn’t lose a pound from no wine 🙁
2) My allergies didn’t improve at all.
3) I was less bloated…YAY!
4) I had 10x more energy than I normally have….that’s scary, I have a ton normally.
5) We ate dinner earlier on some nights instead of enjoying a glass of wine before dinner. Better for us.
I have always been the type to challenge myself and to have no boundaries or limitations. I believe in strength, in fitness and in life.
Inner strength in life comes from being true to your word @mariasmountain
It builds muscle, it enhances your self- worth and your self-confidence.
When you say something or promise yourself something, do you keep to your word?
So, as I sit here savoring my glass of wine with hints of crisp apples and pears…CHEERS!
I challenge you to make a challenge for yourself (21 days was my choice) and KEEP YOUR WORD to yourself.
