Don’t do this in 2021

I wanted to be sure you know about these 10 things that will ensure a better new year for you in 2021

  1. Don’t be a low vibe person. That means don’t fuel the fire. What that mean? If someone is complaining about… anything, don’t you be the one who relates. Don’t fuel the fire. Don’t relate, Instead elevate. Become the person who isn’t available for the constant chatter of negativity but the person who is able to elevate others with your high vibe.
  2. Don’t say or think DIET. Diets don’t work, healthy lifestyle changes do. Instead of looking at all the new weightless diets, and all that restricting, or counting calories, avoiding this or that. Think let’s add some new healthy lifestyle habits. Like adding more greens and drinking more water. Instead of Restrict think Expand my healthy habits.  Feels better already doesn’t it?
  3. Don’t skip moving everyday. Notice I didn’t say exercise? Movement for each of us can be very different. If you like the bike, ride. If you like to walk, then walk. Whatever you do, do it daily as a good habit. Movement is different from a fitness program. The ML Method has many components and fitness classes are one of them. You may hate fitness classes and that’s ok, but movement each day is a non negotiable.
  4. Don’t pollute your mind. What you absorb through the news, podcasts or even social platforms, will effect your mental health. You want a strong mindset. Free of anxiety and useless worry. What you read, what you listen to lives in your mind. If it’s not paying rent, you better monitor it closely. Read  or listen to things that you can learn from. You have the ability to fill your head with what you want your emotions to reflect.
  5. Don’t just exercise randomly. Remember exercise is different from general movement. There are different forms of exercise and all are equally important. Weight training, Cardio, Flexibility to name a few basics. As a fitness professional, I recommend for women in midlife,  weight training 4 x week, cardio 5 x week for 30 min or more. Cardio is raising your heart rate. Walking is not cardio. Flexibility is a must as you age. Yoga and Pilates are great. In the ML Method group I add other important variables, balance and brain training and mobility drills.  You can find out more here https://skyblue-fish-650057.hostingersite.com/group
  6. Don’t skimp on sleep. Research clearly states how important sleep is to repair our muscles, and promote new brain cells. That is very important in midlife because Neuroplasity is the brains ability to adapt to input. Good sleep also helps the brain eliminate waste products in the brain. Sleep helps it detox the brain so it can rejuvenate. Poor sleep is directly related to poor health.
  7. Don’t write off Fun. While yes the pandemic has prevented us from seeing our family and friends, it doesn’t mean you should write off fun. Zoom calls can be fun, you can enjoy a wine and cheese night or you can play games with friends. We are even doing a virtual spa night with the ML Method group of women. You have to create your own fun. Yes, travel is restricted but local drives to places in your state can be fun and adventurous if you create that.
  8. Don’t compare yourself. This is the world we live in. Social platforms are making it way easy to compare yourself to others. There are filters, there are people that edit so well that they can make you appear blonde and disappear as a brunette.  The rooms are staged and props are out. Please realize that. Don’t compare your body to someone who has been working out all their life.
  9. Don’t eat sugar. Worst thing in the world. Sugar. It’s a drug. Ever notice how after the holidays, you crave more sugar. Don’t beat yourself up. Like any addiction, you must wean off it before your body will stop craving it. Here is a great read. Sugar Shock by Carol Prager
  10. Don’t take anything for granted. If this year taught us anything it’s how valuable your health is and how valuable people are. Cultivate a healthy lifestyle and cultivate all your relationships.

My wish for you is that 2021 is better than this year because you will be better. Better at paying attention to the things that really matter.

xo
