Summer hacks to lose weight

The summer is a great time to lose weight and get in shape. You are able to be outdoors more, even just walking in the evenings.

The food in summer is filled with ripe delicious peaches, strawberries and watermelon. We eat less mainly because we are moving more. We usually eat less because of the heat as well.

Here are my 5 summer hacks to lose a few pounds in the summer.

  1. Eat 5 to 7 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
  2. Stay hydrated
  3. Move more
  4. Take naps
  5. Have some fun

Let’s look at each hack more closely

Eat 5 to 7 servings of fruit or vegetables every day:  I love to eat fresh berries and add some to morning smoothies. Think summer fruits, peaches, plums, cherries. Think summer vegetables zucchini, asparagus and grill them. One of my favorite things to grill is pineapple and peaches. Try it, you’ll love it.

Stay hydrated: Summertime is sweat time and we need to continually remain hydrated. Besides regular water, try adding mint and lemon. Another of my favorite summer drinks is watermelon juice and mint. Totally hydrating and delicious.

Move More: Enjoy the warm breeze of the summer by being outdoors more. Enjoy the sounds of the  birds chirping,  and the evening crickets by taking 15 min walks 2x day.

Take Naps: Give yourself permission to enjoy a siesta. Napping for 20 min a day has shown to delay the aging process. Hmm, win-win if you ask me.

Have some fun: Get out and enjoy a game of frisbee, walk in the park. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is blow bubbles. Go ahead have some fun.
