November is my birthday month so I always feel super blessed to be alive, healthy, happy and thriving in life.
It’s also a month that here in the states, we celebrate Thanksgiving. It’s a holiday that I love to prepare. Good food, lots of veggies and of course bringing my family/friends together. We have so much to be thankful for everyday in our lives. Sure we know that studies show that the more you live in gratitude, the more happiness you experience. We have all heard this a million times but do we actually take the time to make gratitude a practice in our life. Like exercise or brushing your teeth, you can make a gratitude practice a habit.
According to a study published by the European Journal of Social Psychology, it takes 66 days to form a habit. It’s the crossover from practice to becoming a habit. If we start today, Nov.1 2016 this practice will be considered a habit by the first week in the new year 2017. What a great way to roll in the new year!
Which got me thinking about the new year, and what this next year will bring? Let’s start with all the opportunities, the adventures, the joys, the sorrows, the successes, and most importantly the blessings. Why not begin preparing for your new year right now?
I talk a lot about Mindset and how one thinks determines their state of being.
Being in gratitude in life will automatically make you a happier person. You will have a more positive outlook on life as well. People will start to notice the change in you. You will look better, have more energy, and simply sparkle.
By now we all have a smart phone, but if you prefer you can use a pen/paper to start actually listing all the blessings you can find in your day. Once you start this practice, it becomes like a game. Your brain starts to take mental notes of things that you experience or notice in your daily life, that you could add to your gratitude journal.
My suggestion is to start each morning with gratitude for Breath. Breath is Life.
Start today and let’s remind ourselves daily that Life is precious, a true gift. Never lose sight of that. Build your gratitude practice now so that you will start 2017 in the happiest state of mind ever #mindset
In health and happiness
