September is a time of year that reminds us of New Year’s Day. New beginnings.
Let’s go back to school together and lean about your CORE
Your CORE is your foundation.
Is yours stable and secure or unstable? Do you feel grounded and centered in your life or do you feel out of balance?
Here are my back to school basic tips for your to create a strong CORE.
1) The best core exercise you can do is a plank. Do a 30second planks to start 3x week then try to increase the time. Forearm or straight-arm. Think crown of head one way, heals the other. Body in a straight line. No core sinking (think of corset wrapping around your midsection) and no butts in the air.
2) Practice meditation. Start with 10 min a day work up to longer. Set your smart phone alarm and sit in a comfortable position. Meditation can be done in different ways. One way is to think of a word example (OM) and repeat it gently to yourself. If thoughts float in your mind, think of them like clouds floating in and floating out. Just breathe. Studies show meditation acts as an immunity booster for colds and flu.
3) Stretch. Your body needs to be stretched. Start with a few stretches upon waking.
Bring knees into your chest while in bed, stretches lower back. Then reach arms overhead and legs out and just stretch. Stretching your spine will keep you limber all day. Get on all fours and bring bellybutton to spine while rounding your back and then arch your back opposite direction. Cat/Cow in yoga
4) Connect with friends. Studies show that women who connect with their core friends are happier. Maybe it’s a cup of coffee or a workout (walk) or any other gathering, women connect more with their female friends have lower risks of divorce and disease. Sounds like a no brainer to me.
5) Take a core class. Whether it’s yoga or pilates or a fusion. Take a class. If you are lucky to belong to a health club then it’s easy. You can also go on YOU TUBE there are plenty of amazing channels that have 20 min classes. Most studio’s or health clubs over one day guest passes. Indulge….
